Maintaining & Rehabilitating the Voice

About Vocal Health

While it’s always important to work with medical professionals in managing health concerns, this section will provide general guidelines and resources for singers, voice teachers, and professional speakers. Many of the topics on this site focus on fostering healthy vocal behaviors during singing, so this section will concentrate on additional factors that can affect your voice, such as hydration (both systemic and topical), sleep, diet, exercise, acid reflux, allergens, and illnesses. We will also outline the roles and scopes of practice of the ideal “voice care team” so that you know who to contact if you encounter prolonged vocal issues. Since most people rely on their voice daily, our goal is to offer a range of practices and strategies to keep the voice in good working condition.
